A proposal for sequencing the etiological agents of the Food-Borne Trematodiases (FBTs)
نویسنده
چکیده
Executive Summary The Food-borne trematodiases (FBTs) represent a major group of the neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) – more than 40 million people are infected with one or more of the FBTs, and 750 million (>10% of the world’s population) others worldwide remain at risk on contracting FBTs. Over 100 species of food-borne trematodes are known to infect humans, although only several are responsible for much of the FBT disease burden. As with the NTDs at large, most FBTs affect the poorest people in rural areas of the endemic countries.

Food borne trematodes (FBTs) are an assemblage of platyhelminth parasites transmitted through the food chain, four of which are recognized as neglected tropical diseases (NTDs). Fascioliasis stands out among the other NTDs due to its broad and significant impact on both human and animal health, as Fasciola sp., are also considered major pathogens of domesticated ruminants. Here we present a ref...

Background: Argas persicus has a great importance for health and veterinary, it can transmit many infectious agents such as Borrelia anserina (avian spirochetosis) and Aegyptianella pullorum. Distinguishing Argasidae due to close morphological relationship is difficult. OBJECTIVES: In the present study, we performed molecular analyses based on PCR and sequencing of Amplicon derived from 16S rRN...

The present research aimed to investigate through a polyphasic approach, the differences in morphological and genotypic features of two cyanobacterial strains isolated from paddy fields of northern parts of Iran, belonging to the family Nostocaceae (subsect. IV. I). Based on the reliable identification keys, the two strains were identified as Nostoc ellipsosporum (Desm.) Rabenh. ex Born. et Fla...

Background: Enterotoxigenic Escherichia coli (ETEC) is one of the most important agents of travelers’ diarrheal diseases in the developing countries. The main purpose of this study was to determine the association of ETEC outbreaks with climatic and demographic variables in Yazd province of Iran. Methods: This study was done on 729 food-borne disease rectal swab samples, which gathered during ...
